Computer memory nowadays is widely available and cheap. However, in the 1950s to 1970s, computer memory was a noble thing. At that time the cutting edge memory technology was the magnetic-core memory. It was physically huge and expensive. Therefore, computer programs need to be deeply optimized to fit the precious memory available. Despite the drawbacks, the magnetic core is reliable and was used to hold the programs that took humans to space and moon.

You probably share my passion for designing electronic products. Transforming ideas into reality is usually very satisfactory for engineers. Altium Designer is probably the most powerful and top-notch PCB design software you can get. Also, Altium Designer is the professional engineers choice for PCB design. Since 2010 I have been designing PCBs, and, since 2016 I have been using Altium Designer. I always recommend Altium to my students and use it in my projects.

I was very glad to be called to produce the Portuguese version of one of Prof. Boris Rubinsky projects (from the University of California, Berkeley). Prof. Boris is one of my academic inspirations. The project is called ‘How to produce hypochlorous acid, the chemical the body uses to fight infections, at home’. This project idea is to provide a way to produce hypochlorous acid at home with very simple materials and proceedings. In addition, to introduce science.
